The mud cooling system, also known as the drilling fluid cooling system, is designed to cool the drilling fluid. Our company’s design process satisfies the requirement of cooling high-temperature mud, with a temperature difference of 20-40°C. This effectively prolongs the lifespan of drill bits and drill rods, improves drilling efficiency, and greatly reduces operational risks caused by excessive mud temperature.
The mud cooling systems available on the market generally adopt air-cooling, water-cooling, or a combination of both. Taking into account the specific conditions at the drilling site, our company customizes energy-efficient, autonomously developed cooling systems that feature automatic control for higher efficiency.
Technical advantages of our independently developed mud cooling system:
1. High cooling efficiency and rapid temperature reduction, with the capability of achieving multi-level cooling based on site conditions. Our standard product design achieves a cooling range of 20-40°C. The use of finned heat exchange tubes can improve efficiency by 10%.
2. The closed cooling mode significantly reduces water evaporation and smoke emissions.
3. Intelligent automatic control system that switches to an evaporative mode when the dry operation mode fails to meet the cooling requirements.
4. Large processing capacity with a small footprint.
5. Special drainage methods prevent freezing and scaling.
6. Compact structure, high heat transfer efficiency, low operating costs, and easy installation and maintenance.
Technical parameters: (Oil-based mud, water-based mud, composite mud)
Model | Processing Capacity | Cooling Rate | Design Pressure | Footprint | Notes |
KSNQ-150 | ≤150m³/h | ≤30℃ | 1.6Mpa | 15㎡ | wet bulb temperature 28℃ |
Scope of application for the mud cooling system:
Currently, it is widely used in closed-loop cooling systems for industrial circulating media, such as the petroleum and chemical industries, new energy industries, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and power industries. This structure is particularly suitable for arid and water-deficient areas. It is also used for mud cooling in oilfield drilling, natural gas hydrate drilling, drilling in frozen soil areas, oil and gas drilling, geothermal drilling, etc.
Offshore Mud Cooling System

The Xi’an KOSUN KSNQ-150.1 model marine mud cooling system provides high-temperature mud cooling for offshore drilling platforms.
Technical advantages of the mud cooling system:
1. The structure adopts a plate heat exchanger, which has high heat transfer efficiency and a small footprint.
2. Wide range of heat transfer temperature difference, capable of two-stage heat transfer.
3. Special materials with strong resistance to corrosion from sea salt are selected.
4. It has the advantages of compact structure, high heat transfer efficiency, low operating costs, and easy installation and maintenance.
5. Intelligent control is used to real-time collect data such as temperature, flow rate, and pressure.
